Over the past years Deep Creek Brewing Co has been quietly raking in a shed load of awards.

  • Champion New Zealand Beer 2019 – Diep Kreik

And not only have they been obviously managing the quality of the beer brewed, but they have been extremely creative and continue to produce a wide and imaginative range.

As will be demonstrated this Friday at our very own Malthouse this Friday 21 February with the Deep Creek Hawaiian Party 2.0.

The Champion Brewery is coming to Courtenay Place, with the Champion Beer, and with a DJ, party and exciting merch give aways!

It is always a special occasion when Deep Creek’s Scotty brings the party to the ‘house. This week he brings 20 Deep Creek beers on tap, covering everything beer from trad pilsners, through a range of hazies, right up to imperial barrel aged treats!

Deep Creek pride themselves on running a series of special projects, which give them the opportunity to riff on a central theme and experiment with variations.

“Our beer projects are our way of exploring fuller flavours and consistently bringing new and interesting brews to our customers throughout the year. Our flavour fuelled range ensures delicious craft beer can make its way to your taste buds all year round.”

For example, the Haiku project has released a series of hazy IPA, two of which will be available at the Malthouse this week.

Other series are Totem – West Coast IPAs – and Tiki, their sour range.

2019 Champion New Zealand beer Diep Kreik is an outcome of the Wildwood series, combining the unpredictable complexities of wild fermentation and barrel aging.

Diep Kreik is a local spin on a Belgian classic. From DC’s Wildwood Project, it was brewed in 2017 and aged in red wine barrels. In the Belgian Kreik tradition, it includes cherries and the result is a complex, sweet, tart flavour experience.

Beer’s this fortuitous are one-offs, but the Malthouse is extremely proud to be the only place on the planet where you can get the 2020 updated version, uniquely and exclusive on tap for the First and possibly only time ever.
