There are some other bars around town which seemingly feel compelled to have a special event, activity or offer every single night of the week.  We won’t name them obviously but they do seem concerned that if the punters are left alone they might notice the rather ordinary beer on offer. 

This year, St George’s Day is the 23rd April (as indeed it is every year) and Malthouse will be marking it with some suitably English ales and hearty pub food. 

Outside, the seasons are changing.  Nights are getting colder, bluff oysters are flying off the shelves and Magnum PI makes a welcome return to early morning television. 

It is hard to say that the sleepy Taranaki hamlet of Urenui is ‘best known’ for something without sounding terminally ironic.

Throughout the arc of human civilisation, the vast majority of mankind have believed that they were, in fact, very interesting individuals and they knew, actually, how to fix the government, balance the budget and raise other people’s children properly.  In virtually every case, they were wrong.
